Games / Duke Nukem Forever [DNF]
March 27, 2011, 03:42:47 PM
"Its time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of bubble gum."
-Duke Nukem /Taken from: the 80's sci-fi cult hit "They Live"...

Well folks after 13 long Eff'n years it better be good! its here finally around the corner and being polished off before its debut its Duke Nukem Forever, Babe!

Its been countlessly been harassed time after time, even tuanted as "Duke Nukem Forever in Development" ect., but you'd better get your game A*Kicking face on. Cause he is here live in playable action form coming to a Video Game Vendor near you with the 99$ "Balls of Steel" Collectors edition;

Read the "Wiki" for the full one up, 411:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_Nukem_Forever

See the Duke @ Home on his Website;
www.dukenukemforever.com

And its important to know that they postponed its date of launch from May 3rd/5th to June 14/10th worldwide; if it is postponed one more time which for any modern seventh gen game is unlikely, it will launch or die. My bet is on launch- too much is already invested they cant stop now. Its sink or swim time.

Here is the announcement:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6fFKkmIrWM

TIME to hit up your pre-orders at your local/favorite vendors!
http://www.dukenukemforever.com/preorder/

From what you've seen, read, or heard over the years this is the place to talk about it, last chance before the game gets the one up on ya, and corrects you big. Personally I'm just exited about DNF and its progress.

Cheers;

Shoot Em Ups! / Re: NES CLASSIC: Image Fight

"...The gameplay in image fight is good and the game itself is very hard. I played it through with save states. The final stage has catch me with the music. Also the final stage is the best looking place in the game.
Here I made an EDIT of the final stage music. Rendered drums and melody separately and edited them a bit made the song sound with something like "real" drums.
Check it out. Took me like 4-5 hours."

That is a nice edit, finally got to hear it, still love the original track though.

yay WTF is this???

Its a home-brew "hack" of games using Mario from the SNES in a Flash script? 16-bit mario in 8-bit to 16bit levels, not going to run on your old NES that's for sure.

It appears to use code scripted from various games from the NES, Genesis, and SNES. IT's MAJOR copyright infringement in the US to do this kind of thing, let alone distribute via W.W.W. ... not sure what its purpose was other than brake video games we know and love into a Mario Brothers style level.

The Guardian Legend / Re: Irem owns TGL

Yes of course they have. It's written there on title screen :redlander:
why don't you ask them about making sequel conditions?
tho it's written founded on 1997. LOL. the game is 1988

'97 is just the date IREM bought and renewed the license. could be its just collecting dust. could be in a similar long development process like DNF aka Duke-Nukem Forever, its a waiting time bomb game. just a matter of when we see or hear of it really.

This also means like Sega, IREM being Japanese I think, solely would release it "only in japan". In that case- its difficult to say weather the game is possible to create and distribute. That's only if it was made in japan, for japan. IREM having the license is good. Since they have made one of my favs...Image Fight.

Right now its like looking down a rabbit hole...how deep will it go? no-one clearly knows.

Cheers,

Welcome my Italian friend From the United States, (where I hail). We hope you enjoy your stay too.

:bluelanderbig:

I just love Italian food, best there is, aside form a certain Dutch Apple Pie with Icecream recipe I tried. Also did you know that Mario and Luigi in Super Mario Brothers are Italian too? one of the best titles ever, though I love Duck Hunt too.(sorry I know its not really related- but I thought about that after thinking about Italy and all the great things Italians have contributed.)

Grazie, amico!

yeah, I'm at square one for this kind of music, so as a programmer I hope to learn from what he did, and for his record he did it in one chunk for nostalgic reasons- like when you play a tape or type 75' record. he ended up compressing the heck out out some sections just to hit the notes and key sounds right because of it being mono.

Donations / Re: Would you donate?
April 22, 2010, 07:36:54 PM
Would be great to have estimate goal of 5,000 US dollars. A small project like this just needs some permanent and loyal team members with money as a means to produce the GDK (Game Development Kit) needed and Licensing for creation release with "sed" GDK. Open source is good, but kept operated private will create a game in 4 years maxed as long as all goes well.

Since most here are "broke" any project help you give is monumentally great and important to keep giving without hassle or the game wont finish and no there probably most likely won't be a person to take your place since this is online and not many know of it at all, even for being online.

Advised Goals:

20 people tops

5,ooo US total

Xbox Live Marketplace Release (I have the connections for this)

i.e. XNA to Community Live Marketplace or Xbox Arcade

Also, should we name the team "TGL" after the Project?

A guy named brad smith did this within the NES standard. Take a look and listen. I like Side B two best in the version he made of Pink Floyd's album.

The Wiki article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_Fight

its actually red and blue pods, but they couldn't get the color right for an odd reason. The title screen's main letters are meant to be in gold with blue shadow high-lighting it.

;D

kinda sad I never got to see the next version or a arcade model here in the US. :skull:  :redlander:

Its a top classic next to the Asteroids arcade original; in this order for shooters I favor to play:

1.Asteroids-Arcade
2.Image Fight-NES
3.Darius Gaiden-Saturn (Sega)

Games / SEGA SATURN: Dragon Force
April 19, 2010, 01:21:38 AM
no not talking the band, and Dragon Force was made by a group hired called "working designs" which is now defunct. This game was awesome, if you love strategy or RPG it is a must own. I absolutely suggest you own a Saturn just to play this or you are missing out.

Shoot Em Ups! / NES CLASSIC: Image Fight
April 19, 2010, 01:01:55 AM
So has anyone here ever played this great classic?

It has great game play mechanics and I remember trying to beat it for a week straight w/ no sleep except four hours occasionally, with it paused when i did sleep.

the weapons were awesome, levels challenging, enemy's and bosses were cool to beat. Even the NFS-plug music was great.

see the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMTC4X6VzYM
video is okay but doesn't do the game's graphics justice....you just gotta play it.

I take no credit for the video, just found it and thought I'd post it for nostalgia. As well as to give an idea what game I do mean clearly. Feel free to discuss memories and FAQ's or strategies.

needs to be a remodel, that means its going to be the exact idea of the original with tweaks that make sense. Which means its 2D or a 2.5 D game title, aka utilizing top-down and side-scrolling 2d/3d. this means re-naming it so that there are no lawsuits over owner copyrights form whomever may still be gripping onto them for an oddball reason.

the name must be close and relate to the original. for example we take out "the" it becomes Guardian Legends (added the 's'), now it will be a new game and we don't have to do a redo of the old game like it were a updated hack. This means we can explore new things and old ones too to give a classic feel.

I believe in a 2D SNES like version for the Xbox Live Arcade would be great. Since I have the right contacts.

I think you should all try a game called Image Fight for the NES too, was a great advanced shooter of the day. There may be solid ideas you can take in and combine.

well I'm poofed out for now, best of luck till I get back with more solid goodness.
