In games like Gradius and many others, you go left to right on a horizontal plane when flying and blasting away..
In the game TGL, you progress from bottom to top when flying..
In Life force you do both..
Vertical. But 3D games probably win this as they can do change between both in solid level gameplay! BTW is there such a trick? I not play games that much :redlander:

Donations / Re: Would you donate?

I'd donate.

I'm not in a financial hole of any sort... yet. However, I'm out of work and my career is kind of in the toilet, and I need to learn high level programming languages if I want to get anywhere (and be interested). I have had game making experience, but I've never made a penny off of it. It would be kind of nice for those who make the sequel to not have that experience.
I making flash games and it brings some income. But I m lucky to have good ideas so almost all of my games get attention.

Can u translate into VirtuaNes adress system? or $ means just equal to 00 and 0?

Quote from: optomon on February 11, 2010, 06:58:29 PM
Cheat menus in emulators can be fun, and are often instrumental in finding game data. Also, I like the weapon name "whole screen destroyer".

Other RAM addresses I know off the top of my head:

$30: Mode of gameplay; #50 for shooter sequence, #52 for "TGL" mode,
$4A: number of gun firepower
$4B: number of shield
$50: The area the player is in
$51: The corridor the player is in; or, the room type the player is in on the overworld.
$4AC-E: How much special weaponry player has
$4AF: Number of "EE"
$4B0: The keys the player has

Wonderland / Weaponism

I play TGL in VirtuaNes so I refer to it. Go to the Tool/Cheat Support. The adress 003C is weapons. To change it find in the adress columns and double click(not sure why but not works entering manually).
1-12 is normal weapons. up to 255 is random glitchy weapons. Set over 12 and press select. U'll see selection on weird places. Most of this weapons just crash the game. Also some of them can work but if you take red or blue chip bonus it will make everything more glitchy and more possible to crash.

:bluelanderbig: I talk about next thing!
For example select laser wepon(works only in corridors) and then go to cheat menu and set 8(Twirl Forward Ball). It will make some glitch and the wepon stays on screen without take any chips and destroy things around.
:skull:The possibility of this is not so wide but not so little. For example I come up even with almost whole screen destroyer by selecting twin laser, then laser and then swithc between Laser(9) and Twirl Ball(8 ). It not works all the time.

Wonderland / Re: Possible Hidden Menu?
February 10, 2010, 09:35:11 PM
I have never heard about it. I not see much descriptions of the outside of map glitcheness as well.
The thing I found recently is how to use the Cheating in VNes and able to set the Weird weapons by change 003C adress. But I also wonder can this weird weapons be upgraded.

This menu he describe looks pretty fun and not like random glitch. I think should keep that idea for the sequel. :bluelander:

Shoot Em Ups! / Cy-Clone
February 07, 2010, 09:09:00 AM
I tried out cy-clone Shmup. It's fun thing I was think about this idea long ago. You fly with some orb and u can grab pretty much many enemies and turn into them and they have different weapons and secondary attack(special).
Seems a bit short game cuz I played 30 mins demo and got to final stage on easy mode.

I m only into flash games creation by far. I personally think that flash is NOT_good idea.

I heard of programms like Game Maker and Multimedia Fusion 2. They made for games creating with many standard functions. Maybe we should find some good program for the TGL sequel? Making game with C# or other sort of programming language would take lots of resources!

So if you know something about Game Making programms that could be used for sequel please say your opinion.

or mabye certain actions can open up these secrets.. just like certain corridors had "puzzles" in order to be opened..

maybe like killing enemies in a certain order..
using special weapons as you mentioned..
waiting..
button combinations..
score/life/chips ended in a certain digit..

just some ideas
Nice fun! Also if the answer would not so clear but enough for guess....
Yay opening wall-door by having 0 chips :redlander:

Basic ideas for the sequel / Re: It's Macross

is it assumed that the guardian is from earth? it says she is earths last hope.. but i always got the feeling she was kind of like a "weapon" for earth (ff7 reference)

earth created her based on the inhabitants and their technology.. resulting in a "human"ish person whom could traverse space to defend the planet..
i think that would helpp with the whole "well how does she wear that heavy armor and turn into a ship?" problem alittle..

I never ever felt like defender of the earth playing this game. It has no anything about earth but only the intro text.
What you mean about "weapon" for earth?(I tried FF7 but I could not even get out of city. Too long games is not my cup of tea).

also.. as for the special weapons and main weapons.. I think it would be awesome if you could use chips to upgrade your weapons.. very slowly but with great result by the end of the game...
like here is an example of my idea..
main weapon starts at 100% damage and the max is.. oh say 400%
and you can use 50chips to upgrade it to 101%, and then 75 to get another % and then 113, 219, 330, 445
im just doing a (previous total + 50% of previous total = new cost)..

and im not completly sure the platform of medium this game would be made on but im loving the ideas.. be glad to help with this project..

I not clear with the idea of upgrade by chips. hm...
So if we have 4000 max chips then final upgrade for each weapon costs 4000. that means that each weapon u got you will have to go around just to pick chips for upgrade. It's similar like u go around in RPG exp based and kill for exp.

Gradius? I played 1,2 on NES. I think Gradius II music on NES was so awesome that I just listened it without playing game :redlander:

As Viper Leo said, this is where ideas come out, hence my suggestion.

How exactly are you planning on making this arseniy? Will you, or your team, be using the original game as a base and modify it as necessary, or will this be an entirely new construct - you and/or your team will be making the game engine, character designs, etc.?

I apologize if you already stated this in a different topic, but I haven't had the time to look through every single topic here as of yet.
I not have exact plan yet. I m not programmer and not good drawer. The only thing I can suggest is to bring some ideas and make music for the game. The game will be based on many opinions by people who desire for a sequel for the original.
I think it could have point to make a game based on some game developement tool like Multimedia Fusion, Gamemaker and such. This could help create a "Level Editor" for people who would like to participate in work.
I would also invest my own money into this (if I had :bluelander:)
I think it should be open source project.
Such a smooth plan.
I created 10+ good flash games(and few great) by far so I m little familiar with game developement.
