Game Music
« on: May 06, 2010, 08:11:47 AM »
I saw that no mention has been made about any ideas/work for the music of the new game.
I think remixes and uses of themes from the original game's music would be the coolest way to go, as the music in the game was simply amazing. these could be mixed in with new original music.

There are also the sound effects to consider and create.

In talking about taking the game to today's standards, i think another layer of sounds should be implemented, and that being ambience and background effects, that could greatly enhance the different settings and environments of the game.

I am an electronic music producer, i create mostley psytrance and a bit of idm/experimental music.
my discogs page here for my psytrance project:
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Faxi+Nadu
and for the more obscure soundtrack/ambient project:
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Elmooht

i would be more than happy to take part in the musical aspect of this project.

Hows we listen your songs or something?
Well I don't think I going to buy a record yet... I m poor ;)

I think the sound theme not very discussed yet just because :redlander:
Of course we going to have a full power sound effects possible. Mostly like mp3 music and wav sounds(or 256 mp3).

I'm not much of a Music creator. But I think we should try and keep it to the original 8 tune NES style for familiarity instead of going to the current generation music. :<

oh i agree completely, i just posted that link per the request to hear my music.
i do think though a hybrid 8bit/new feel would be amazing. like all the synths and sounds bieng 8bit and minimalistic nes style, with for example some backing string section and/or ambient sound textures.

Here's a few choices for you if you wish to attempt to create a new style with the original Setup of sounds. :)

Hope to see if you bring some work into this!

i have had all the midi files for the tgl music for some years now. experimented with some in the past just a bit.
i'll see if i can find the files, though making new remixes would be the best i think. but, the music should be tied to the plot, graphics and gameplay, so i think some more progress on that should be made.

maybe ill try playing around with something for the opening theme and see what you guys think :)

nice tune Faxinadu :)

RandomSpriter do you afraid nowadays sounding music CAN'T achieve an ambience of original?
Personaly I think the music just can't be 8bit in sequel. I m sure we will come up with great tunes. Maybe to try using same harmonies as original game has(BTW they not so common). No just no 8bit music votes please....
I swear I listened tons of NES music and have lots of faves there. I love NES music!

Oh ya I m music producer too!

Check out my latest tune :3

Also you can listen my music in Bucketball 2 game I made with Komix to come up with idea that modern electronic game music is an awesome thing :) Especially when it has great variative melody!

woah yah man listening now you rock! great stuff!

I made a quick search in my backups just now and unfortunatley found just one little TGL medley i made and used in the past in some of my chillout dj sets. its a pretty simple fx mashing of the end melody. made a quick upload to sendspace (just for fun):
