I dug up some neat goodies. It seems they ever made a phone card in Japan that had TGL's cover art on it. There was a guide book too. The only clickable feature is the instruction booklet. In the PDF features some neat art such as the Guardian herself, how very sexy.

I'd like to hope someone can translate what it says about her in the schematics/cross-sectioning.
I am still on the hunt for this illusive "Cloth Poster" that was included with a special edition release of this game. Right now ebay has a listing for the complete set (minus the cloth poster)

If anyone has any leads on this poster, please post it here. I only saw it once, but never saved the image >.<
So that is why I have the nes file called TGLA and also TGLA code works for the shmup mode - BECAUSE japanese translate the game as The Goardic Legend of Another (u can see it in bucklet.

That's really NEAT find Izlude
:3 :3 :3
It's like the first time I ever see the Miria this way.
LOL and she is in bikini!
If the used those Naju+Miria on the botton picture(but better her bikini and gloves be red) that could be the best Cover art! The other 3 covers are shit not only because they not remind anything in thegame but just because this picture in Bucklet is so much better!
oh there's one more thing i was curious about. i used to read in reviews of the game that there was another version out there. they changed the biological level into some generic cave level. is that true? i've yet to find such a version. i think it would be most interesting to see :)
Hm?? I have no idea.
Did you played the ROM hack made by optomon?
oh, no haven't yet. i'll check it out ;D
oh i'd like to add to this thread.. http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b115064341
this guide book which appears to be an actual guide book and not the instruction booklet may contain artwork that we've never seen before. you know how some books contain extra drawings and goodies... i wonder if it's possible to buy it even if i live in the usa.
Is there any pictures to see? I can't read this language. I see only one picture there.
Wow, they're selling it for "only" 6600 yen (about 60 euro or 78.50 USD). A real bargain compared to the 123 USD price tag attached to previous auction (which admittedly will get you a fully working cartidge instead of paper).
I really never got the point with vintage computer-related auctions. I don't understand. I understand the people who buy the items at that price much less.
Oh I think I found the poster!!!
This is supposed to be made of some fabric and not cheap laminated paper. Possibly similar to US Dollars, but just a little more tough... It shouldn't rip too easily. It's definately a valued collectors item. I wish I could get my hands on it! I'm still going crazy trying to buy the guide book. It looks to be a hard cover book. I'm curious if there are more illustrations like the girl we saw in the Japanese instruction booklet. Hope you enjoy the finds!
Here's the guide book for your enjoyment (so you don't have to click the link in my previous post!)
The poster seems the exact image from guide. But it has some weird "Zone Image" logo on it.
wow, thanks so much for these links! :heart0:
Looks interesting.
AAAH I KNEW IT!!! The guide book (selling for 154 usd) has more artwork of the guardian in it! CURSES!! I hate being poor!!!!!! waaaaaaaaa XD

Simply a beautiful piece of work ain't i? Seems that it isn't hard cover after all, but definitely still nice! If anyone decides to buy it, please take photos of each page :P
I know these items exist.
Guardian Legend Phone Card
Guardian Legend Action Figure (official)
Guide Book
Poster
So far I've seen all of them except the figure... please keep an eye out for it.
holy crap that's expensive
i asked the seller if they could at least take photos of the girl in the book.. (only all the pictures of the girl) hoping they don't think i'm just trying to get a free copy on the net :P
154... Hm I could afford that but I m in russia. Shipping will take another 50-100$
we're outta luck :skull: i asked for photos and they said they don't have it on hand (perhaps packed up? in a warehouse? waahh...)

Sadly that page doesn't say anything interesting. The only cool piece of info here is that the main character's official name is "System D.P." "Miria" is just a nickname:
"Player
System D.P. (codename Miria), a female soldier built with extra-terrestrial technology.
Human Form: Labyrinth
Warship Form: Corridors
She wanders the Labyrinth in human form and flies through the Corridors in warship form. She fires regular bullets and special weapons called "Options".
You can choose from 12 different "Options" (special weapons). They are as follows: (list of the weapons).."
wow, System D.P. wonder what dp means? droid p??? heh heh... oh did it actually say code name miria? guess that changes a bit of things hmmm... maybe not, i still like miria.
Hi everyone :)
I have the Japanese book for sale if anybody is interested. I know it's unpleasant my first post to be an advertisement, but not much to say as being a Sega fan. So, please forgive me.
As you can probably imagine, it came into my hands 'accidentally' in a lot of books I bought from Japan and after searching I discovered it's an uncommon book.
Anyway, here are photos of the book:
(http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/4881/dsc01761e.th.jpg) (http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/4881/dsc01761e.jpg) (http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/5728/dsc01765tt.th.jpg) (http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/5728/dsc01765tt.jpg)
It's in great condition, clean without tears/marks/writings.
I'd ask $82 USD, including worldwide shipping with tracking number (Registered airmail).
Just PM me if you're interested. :)
hrm... that second picture looks like something totally self made. The pixels of the planet are filtered and cut really lame around.

I understand what you mean, but this is how originally looks. I took 2 more photos and as you can see in second photo the girl portrait looks pixelated as well. Obviously taken directly from the game.

I understand your concern to someone unknown, but the book is totally original.
Payment will be through Paypal, so you can take your money back if you're not satisfied.
Well maybe it's some updated manual.
Because here is original:

This is just an omake (extra/bonus) book, giving some info for the game.
My book is the Japanese Guidebook analyzing analytically every stage of the game and hasn't been scanned.
Moreover it has a lot more pages (about 60).
As you can see here they are different books: http://www.videogameden.com/fc.htm?gua (http://www.videogameden.com/fc.htm?gua)
It's the same book mentioned on page 1 of this thread.
That's sooooooooo tempting. I'd get it if I had the funds haha. :-\ I must ask, do you know if the book contains more artwork of the girl? (Miria) According to the previous pictures, I saw about 3 or 4, but wondering if there are anymore detailed images of her. If so, how many?
If I bought it, I'd definitely scan it and upload it for the community :) I'll have to see how business goes after the bills, good etc..

Unfortunately not much artwork of Miria, about 2 or 3 more...
I took a few more photos and as you can see, mainly explains every level and gives some useful info...

Guys WTF with the picture 3(the middle one)? Look where the crab miniboss. The walls look a bit different.
Not much interest for the Japanese Guidebook, so finally listed on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261016600544 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/261016600544)
I hope to go to someone who will scan it and share it here...
Yeah good luck on finding buyer quicker. I personally pretty low at the moment and also I live in Russia so the shipping here would be another 30$ I guess :)
Thanks. Well, I had a pm from Izlude and he seemed keen but then nothing. Long time since his last log-in...
Anyway, if any member here is interested in doing the transaction out of ebay, I can make a 10$ discount. :)
The shipping cost to Russia is 9$ by registered airmail with tracking number.
Finally the Japanese guide was sold to the webmaster of videogameden.com and as he told me he'll soon add scans of the guide on the web site.
I'm really happy it went to the right hands!

He still hasn't added all pages, just the cover and 2 pages:
http://www.videogameden.com/omake.htm?fc?gua08?10 (http://www.videogameden.com/omake.htm?fc?gua08?10)
Not sure if he will finally do a full scan as there are many pages, just my guess...
