Title: The Guardian Legend Soundpack
Post by: TrickyCC on January 09, 2010, 02:00:13 AM

So I thought that some tunes and sounds from the original game The Guardian Legend
would be needed during the development of this new project (hopefully), so I ripped
most of the sounds from The Guardian Legend which could probably have some good
use later.

90% of the music soundfiles are loopable, but I didn't set any loop point since AudaCity
doesn't have that function, so I cut them nicely and precisely so that you could loop
them in any external program.

Also I made some "kind-of" related filenames related to the game, so hopefully the right
sound should be easy to find.

DOWNLOAD NOT AVAILABLE, PLEASE CHECK BACK LATER
[EDIT by Arseniy]
http://www.mediafire.com/?dmj2jzkw0id - temporary place for that file. But one song is corrupted. If Trycky upload it then I can repack the file and upload. forest_flight.wav is missing

When you made that Soundpack? It's a lot of work and maybe the sequel will have whole new sound effects and music. I can make pretty good sounds myself. Usually my flash games have 95-100% sounds made by myself.

I even think to create some game sound packs to sell but have no idea how :)

Well, Compile (the original developers of TGL) recycled some of their sound effects to their later games (Gun-Nac is one of them), so I don't see any wrong why we shouldn't recycle the sound effects from The Guardian Legend as we are about to make a remake anyway :)

But now I'm a little bit curious if we'll make the remake in 8-bit theme like the original or take the graphics and sounds to a new level?

Oh yeah, I made this soundpack like 6 hours ago with the help of the SOUND TEST they left inside The Guardian Legend.

About type of remake of the game it could be posted in other topic and section :) but I can say I would look for bring it to the new level.
What emulator u used? It has stereo sound. I play in VirtuaNES it not has stereo.
I listen music from NES games in winamp using notSoFatSo plugin. It's stereo.
Well thanks for that stuff :) Loops made perfectly!

The boss explosions probably made from few sounds or 1 sound playing constantly for a while.

I'll try to download file again to be sure it's not my connection fail. It says 1 wav file corrupted forest_flight.wav

I just played it directly on VirtualNes/vNES because I don't have any emulator on my computer right now for the moment.
Although new soundtracks would be an awesome addition to the game and possibly new themes if we had a pixel artist.

I not sure if vNes had stereo sound from begining or some later. I think most of standalone emulators have mono  :bluelander:

Thanks. Sounds are necessary for us. In the future Probably we will manage to improve them.

I also noticed today that I forgot one tune from TGL. There's 2 Boss themes during flight and 1 when fighting against a "mini-boss" during the labyrinth. I forgot to add it to the soundpack as I am pretty sure I couldn't find the tune in the Sound Test mode in-game.

I might have to update this someday if necessary.

Hmm thanks for noticing that. I think I'll pick Rapidshare next time or any other media uploader.

Thanks a bunch for providing them a link again because I couldn't be bothered waiting for uploading such files in public because my upload speed is garbage.

Really sorry for that.

Aye, it'll help out with trying to link sounds together in Game Maker :)
