You mean Sub-weapons? There are some people who beat whole game without sub-weapons.
One of them is Koh1fds you know him on youtube.

Yeah, he has a lot of impressive ways to beat the game and also very very fast. Also, I guess he's one of the people who contributed to the FCEUX emulator.
