There is big chance you’ve heard this music already. But I making it into a post anyway.
Saverio Paiella written probably most unique music covers on the Guardian Legend music. It sounds like. Not sure how this style called but it sounds like The Cowboy Robot Legend ๐
Here I attach soundcloud player with all 5 Guardian Legend tracks by Saverio Paiella. If it not loads, that might be soundcloud server issue sometimes.
You can find more music covers in music section(requires flash player installed). I need to update it with new music player and more music tracks (but it will be long before it happens I guess ;P ).
First of all thanks to the amazing Optomon who donated for the site to keep going. He is amazing because he made The Guardian Legend:Secret Edition. That is really helpful, I am thankful to you! ๐
And now to the post.
I bet most of us thought that it would be so cool if there was some sequel to the game. And maybe with different heroes to select.ย But did you thought that the heroes could be so different like differnce between RGP classes? You know like Knight, Wizard, Archer. I think it would be great idea. That totally makes sense since the game has adventure walking mode . And would make even greater gameplay difference between classes because of changes into SHMUP mode.
Hard to imagine what kind of classes could be in potential TGL like or sequel game. Maybe there is something like that in SHMUP or futuristic RPG games already.
The idea come to me when I looked at this fan art. Or maybe correct to say art inspired by?
He thinks that Neptunia games probably have some impact from The Guardian Legend game.
I would say his Zhaina character abilities could be around ice and freezing. Also I think there better to be male characters too! If you remember there was few male characters done based on TGL character concept. Especially this one. Ordered by our forum member RubyC42 (AKA youtube RubycoredBejeweled)
The genre is so called Metroidvania and SHMUP. There are a lot of places to walk, jump and fight around. A lot. Just like Metroid. You will find special weapons and upgrades. Very much like in TGL. The flying stages have a lot from TGL. Author made many enemies and bosses almost directly from TGL. And the protagonist is also a transformer.
But I warn you! The walking and jumping here is a lot more than flying. So if you love Metroid this is good for you.
I should mention that the game is still in Beta. It’s a full game already but there should be some minor updates. So keep that in mind. The game also should have some different endings. Yes the game has plot. I am not sure how much endings it has now(there was at least one). Let me know.
The youtube user Bragatyr played the music from The Guardian Legend on his piano. Or is he playing a midi keyboard? I don’t know. But clearly he played by hands. The sound quality is kinda poor. Has crackles and need some post process brushing. But it is OK for listen to it for one or few times.
Look at that. Very nice view on the costume. Just as I see the Miria in the game. That is the way how I always seen her. Not a bikini and skin but some cover! If you look closer to the details artist made, it is visible that this is not a human body. Only her head is human. I think that belly button was not necessary tho. I guess this is done considering general public demands to exaggerate sexiness in games fan arts.
That blaster does look belong to the Guardian Legend universe. Not ideal probably. I don’t think such a cyborg needs to press trigger with a finger to shoot. But it’s OK and acceptable. I’d agree to play a sequel with such a gun.
I think artist captured the feel of the game pretty well! At least that’s how I feel too ๐
Thank you Stephen for this great fan art!
You can visit the original page where I found it. There are several pictures showing the progress from a sketch to a finished drawing. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/3m58g
You can find more fan art in the Gallery. You can see the picture details with full size in the Gallery.
It’s actually pretty hard to find anything high quality on The Guardian Legen music covers. And I did not found something new for myself. So I post this. Did not want to post something I heard to many times already. So lets check this music cover by ZXD.
The Guardian Legend Snowy Fields Remix by ZXD
So we have a basic theme with some additional layer of organs. The bass sounds way too thin and spiked out. The kick drum just lost. Snare has a lack of bite. Sounds like pretty typical amateur work. So author has a tons of things to improve.
Also it has no any intro and outro. Just throws us the original game music sheet repeated 3 times.
Still, we thankful for people like that, who try to put the TGL music into their works. And also it’s not that bad. I’ve heard much worse.
Now that’s an issue with me. Saved lot of stuff but never saved the links. So I can’t find where I found this. I remember it’s inspired by TGL and something else.
Pretty nice drawing, but I don’t think I would like to play The Guardian Legend with this type of heroine.
OK. Google image search helped. It is Stratos Guardian by Jonathan Price.
Here is what he says:
“She was a fun one. The name popped in my head because I had a bit of nostalgia thinking about one of my all-time favorite video games while working on this one, The Guardian Legend on NES.”
If you have an urge to play a game similar to The Guardian Legend. The chances you find something similar are about zero. However, the SHMUP part of the TGL have some similar games like Zanac, you probably know. The other one is Space Megaforce on SNES. Itโs pretty fun and slightly reminds The Guardian Legend SHMUP mode. It reminds Zanac more but still has some vibes from TGL. So here is some review of Space Megaforce. Developed by the same company as The Guardian Legend โ Compile. Might be a good idea to try it if you havenโt played!
