I played this when I was young. The best part is the music, famous for sounding like something out of a 20th century cinema classic.

Thanks for the post!
Yes, it is challenge on top of challenge to do it from scratch. It had to be prodded and experimented with until it worked pretty much.

Games / Rollie (NES)
September 10, 2019, 12:17:09 PM
In case anyone is interested, my first official video game is on kickstarter right now, an NES platformer called Rollie

The official site for it

Other than the way some things are coded, I can't say there are too many things TGL related since it is a completely different type of game (it is more like Super Mario Bros). The other important thing behind this is that I was able to build a game engine from scratch and might be able to use it for future projects.

Rom Hacks, MODs, Plugins / Re: Can the music be changed?

In Secret Edition, I hacked Areas 5 and 6 and Areas 9 and 10 share the same music as you say. I also initially put in the ending theme for Areas 7 and 8 but it was not well received, so I reversed the change.

I lost a very comprehensive document of Guardian Legend ram/rom info in a flash drive crash in 2011.
I could get you a few things just by taking a relook at the game. There was a brief document on RHDN about it by Jigglysaint back in the day.

If it isn't too late, the one question I'd ask is if they had high hopes that the game would be revolutionary.

Wow, amazing. Have to think of something important to ask, chances are he does not remember much.

Yes it would be the green color given its palette signature.

I'll bet that fifth shield thing is intentionally programmed. Weird how no one has bothered to check it yet.

Here's a rom with updates.
The two puzzles:
Corridor 4: Walk across the center of the gate when the music is restarting
Corridor 6: You will need to "fire" the laser weapon in the room.

Well dang totally forgot about this. Let me see if I can get that done on the way to work this week. I might change the requirement a little for what opens the two corridors, rather than revert to those of the original game.

Wonderland / Re: Glitch Passwords

I know of two crazy passwords that are coincidences. I remember discussing them back in the day with the guy who developed the password generator.

They do exactly the same thing. In the game it takes you to coordinate 1 x 1 which is a black square on the map, and the game crashes. However, in the secret edition, while it is a blank square, the game does not crash. It leaves the player fairly handicapped, and somewhat amazingly, the game is beatable. It's like a secret challenge.

Random codes placing the player off the map would have triggered the situation. That is allI know. I remember looking for this with back in the day, would like to see that mock up screen you drew. And not sure what Arseniy meant about the rectangle thing being the same, would like to see that screen shot.
