I actually don't recall any nes game that would crash due to having too many sprites on the screen.

In TGL there is protection from too many objects or maybe it's NES thing. I not sure how it works in this case. Maybe it will replace one boss with new or it will not add boss when there is limit. Did you noticed there some false shots when too much objects going on?

Nice video. You can probably ignore the bosses entirely and destroy their bullets instead to increase the score. :)
