First time I played it was in chinese or japanese and called "chiday story" and I could not open corridor 4... it took me 2-3 days already
then I dropped away and a month or two later my friend got cartrige with TGL english version so he could read the stuff and he got up to grimgrin but could not beat him.
I think  after that I won game from start in 2 days with password the next day.
I vote week. It was so long ago and I not remember.

The horrors of not being able to read English...
And the Corridor puzzles really frustrated me back when I was a child. But after a few weeks I finally were able to figure things out, and then I faced the last boss.

The rest is history.
Great game, great visuals, great Sprites, great Atmosphere, Great soundtrack, Great difficulty.
Clearly one of the best on NES Early Era.

years to officially beat the game without the code for shooter mode only. i never figured out what to do with the corridior that was messed up when it was sealed. i then realized i had to bug the hell out of the blue lander to open it for me

I don't even remember how long it took the first time.  My brothers and I started out renting it from the local video store once a weekend and if I remember correctly we couldn't get past the first Optomon.  Eventually somebody got the game as a birthday or Xmas present and we won it eventually.  It must have taken months.  I remember having to redo parts because I wrote the password down wrong.

Same thing here. I believe they've taken really too far with that one. Today, some feedback would be absolutely necessary.

Yay losing passwords :skull::skull::optomon::skull::skull:

Renting a long RPG like Dragon Warrior 3 several weekends in a row and then having somebody erase your save was a terrible feeling too :)

Similar story. :)

optomon

I think I was 4 when I first saw my brother play through this game. I don't quite remember first beating this game, though I do remember completing TGL mode for the first time when I was about 10, so it must have taken a while. I had a lot of trouble with the red optomon boss, but didn't have too much trouble once I got past him.

Dear lord you don't wanna know! The first time I played this was back when I was like 2 or 3 and I thought Blue Fleepa and Green Optomon were tough! A lot of the time I couldn't even beat the intro stage! Plus I always lost passwords (I even used the Password Check to make sure I got them right!)! Nowadays i'm good enough to reach Cooridor 2 without dying, and reach Cooridor 3 or 4 before i get tired.
Fleepa, Optomon, Grimgrin, and Clawbot would like to "personally" welcome you to Naju. Have a nice day!

A week or less... Mostly because of Optomon pissing me off so much lol. I beat it in my teens though I had played it many times before that.

I never beat the game until I got an emulator like a month ago (Didn't have to input passwords ::)) Things were pretty smooth sailing until blue optomon who I kept trying to use the laser against... died like twelve times XD. Then corridor 10 didn't want to open for me until I tried shooting directly down at it. Yeah, it took me a couple of weeks
