A Megaman kind of game with Cave Story atmosphere. It’s done quite well. Solid indie game quality and it’s somehow free? There much worse platformers selling on Steam.
Funny reaction on double KO with Blue Optomon by speedrunner Dancarnate. Should be a pretty rare thing as when you kill the boss then projectiles are destroyed too.

This video combined over 5000 attempts to speedrun the Super Mario Bros. on NES. Looks quite amusing! 193 hours of attempts. Means average attempt is 2.3 minute.

Long ago I did show little bit of the area underneath the map. That area is not random unlike all the other directions out of the map.
Here is some footage of that. I recommend watch it on youtube and click timecodes, where I picked some highlights. Mostly nothing interesting happens there 🙂
The switch of the area types happens only when you go in and out of portal doors. That would require too much time to try test every cell to figure out if the area types match the main map. That also means, if you walk into other area without entering a door then it will not change and stay the same.

Checked about further development recently. The project is on hold since beginning of the 2021. And I am afraid it will be left from there.
However here is a demo. The game, seems like, based on Shatterhand/Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain ROM. It has features from there, like grabbing the metal grids, health UI, level selector and its animation, medkit usage, the elevator moving up.
What’s cool about it, is the way the backgrounds and foregrounds visually look. Really nice looking stuff. But there are no enemies in there. So it’s a showcase of pretty empty levels. This might be useful for other NES games artists or just overall gaming pixel artists as an inspiration.
Maybe we will never hear about this project again. Or maybe it will be passed to other hands and continue.
