Videos this days has a new feature, showing the most viewed spots of a video. I checked Chip And Dale OST from NES on 2 different videos and Zone J most viewed on both of them.

Checking another OST. Shadow of Ninja NES, KAGE on Famicom. And it has 2 boss themes as the most viewed spots. Two videos has a bit different order, so the spots are on different places in them. But that are the same music tracks:

What does it mean? The most memorable melodies? I do not know. But lets check our game – The Guardian Legend. I found only 1 video with enough views to show those stats. It seems that forest walking area is the most viewed one. Does it mean that it’s the most memorable music from the game, or is it most impactful, or do people like it the most? What do you think?

Dimension Shift will never be released, I guess

Few years ago I posted about homebrew project Dimension Shift – https://theguardianlegend.com/2020/10/dimension-shift-homebrew-nes/

Checked about further development recently. The project is on hold since beginning of the 2021. And I am afraid it will be left from there.

However here is a demo. The game, seems like, based on Shatterhand/Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain ROM. It has features from there, like grabbing the metal grids, health UI, level selector and its animation, medkit usage, the elevator moving up.

What’s cool about it, is the way the backgrounds and foregrounds visually look. Really nice looking stuff. But there are no enemies in there. So it’s a showcase of pretty empty levels. This might be useful for other NES games artists or just overall gaming pixel artists as an inspiration.

Maybe we will never hear about this project again. Or maybe it will be passed to other hands and continue.

Great jazz music cover

Harmsing recorded a great jazz music cover on the corridor 5,6.

He had a contest year ago and as a prize he suggested he would make a music cover of the choice. How lucky we are that the winner was one of the game’s fans. He asked for the corridor 5,6 music.

And here we go, a year later the prize is ready.

The winner is very happy. And so we are!

Playing as Casey

This kind of stuff was like a dream in childhood. Using emulator’s cheats we can make what was impossible with the game.

It did upset me Casey could not be chosen to play story mode in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters on NES.

This is possible to do using RAM address of the player position. That also means it is possible to do that with game genie. With Hothead and Shredder that would make the game crash at the battle with Shredder. On emulator it is possible to turn the cheat OFF at the place where the game crash and then turn it ON again.

Here I recorded story mode playthrough with Casey Jones. I also added fun camera edits for more interesting look.

I also prefer this game over Sega and SNES version. It has more fun gameplay and superior physics feel over them.

Evil Dead blood and gore arcade game

Creepy, goory, bloody, blackest humor Beat ’em up game on Arcade.

Check out the – Night Slashers

The graphics is great. However, I have a little bit of vomiting reflex watching it. It’s a great Halloween game. Requires some trained nerves. Watching all those blood and guts falling around can make uncomfortable.

The humor in this game is very black and bloody.

I do not know much about the game. All I did is enjoyed this video walkthrough:

Clawbot color upgrade

A small color upgrade of the Clawbot sprite. Looks great. The author is AndroidArts you might saw his concept art for The Guardian Legend. If you didn’t you better check it out: https://androidarts.com/tgl/guardianlegend.htm

He also gave the front talons some chainsaw teeth to make them a bit more aggressive looking.

Guardian Legend OST by soejima1000

A really good played Guardian Legend OST by soejima1000

All the songs in one video. Played on guitar with also a recorded guitars background. Worth a listen.

I added the song to the music section as an audiofile, but it has 128kbps quality, as it is the quality the video was uploaded.

Lode Runner 2 (1998)

There are many Lode Runner games out there. I haven’t seen them all.

Stumbled upon this one. And the way it looks is amazing. It’s like Crusader: No Remorse meets Heroes of Might And Magic. Or something like that.

Isometric view with all the classic features and a new ones.

Besides the beautiful visuals the music is really nice too.
